In what turned out to be a defensive battle, the Caps bette Ottawa 2-1 on the road Saturday night. Goaltender Braden Holtby stopped all 30 shots he faced and earned his second consecutive shutout.

Washington struck early on a T.J. Oshie goal one-timer. He took a pass from Nicklas Backstrom and blasted the puck by Ottawa goalie Mike Condon. It was a milestone for Backstrom, as he now has 500 career assists.
