Florio: Mike McCarthy’s Reputation For Developing Quarterbacks Is Overblown

Mike Tomlin never had a losing season as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ head coach. Despite his playoff struggles, his ability to consistenly win was impressive. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to keep him in Pittsburgh. Tomlin stepped down, and Mike McCarthy is the team’s head coach now. While he’s had success in the NFL, Mike Florio still thinks Steelers fans could come to regret wanting Tomlin gone.

“They’re gonna find out how good Mike Tomlin was,” Florio said Wednesday on his Pro Football Talk podcast. “Because I saw Art Rooney [II] say that they wanted Mike McCarthy because of his track record in developing quarterbacks.
