PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis' Arnica Zitting has been named the American Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
It is Zitting's second conference weekly honor both of the season and for her career. She also received the weekly accolade Sept. 5 after her first-place run at the season-opening Brooks Twilight Classic.
At last Saturday's Greater Louisville Classic, Zitting placed second overall in the women's 5k race. She ran the course in a time of 17:56.51, her best 5k time in her two seasons at Memphis. Her previous-best 5k time was 17:58.
