NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis sprinters and posted big performances in pacing the Tigers track and field effort at the Vanderbilt Opener Saturday. The meet was the opener for the 2017-18 indoor campaign.
Chavez, a sophomore, and DeMoss, a junior, won the women's and men's 60 meters, respectively, and both also ran legs on their 4x400 meter relays. The men's team won its relay, and the women were second.
In the process, Chavez and DeMoss set school indoor records. Chavez ran a 7.39 in the women's 60 meters to win the event in a school-record time.
