MEMPHIS, Tenn. –For the fourth consecutive season, the University of Memphis softball team won the conference opening series with a 9-1 victory over ECU Sunday afternoon. The Tigers improve to 17-14 on the year and 2-1 in American Athletic Conference play with the win.
Memphis finished the weekend with 21 runs scored on 27 hits, with hits from eight different Tigers on Sunday.
Memphis took an early lead over the Pirates on a passed ball. Delaney Smith led the inning off with a double down the left field line and after a fly ball by Baylee Smith advanced her to third, she scored on the ECU miscue.
