CLEMSON — Clemson got a grand slam from Jacob Jarrell in the bottom of the first inning, Tryston McCladdie smacked a two-run shot in the third and Nate Savoie added a solo home run in the sixth , as the 15th-ranked Tigers rolled to an 11-1 victory over Charlotte Tuesday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The win improved Clemson to 4-0 in the young season, while the 49ers dropped to 1-3.
Clemson lead-off hitter Jarren Purify drew three walks and scored all three times, while Savoie scored three times as well.
In the first, the Tigers got a sacrifice fly from Ty Dalley and then Jarrell sent Carson’s 1-2 cutter to left centerfield for a grand slam and a 5-0 lead.
