Red Sox reportedly agree to five-year deal with Ranger Suarez worth $130 million

The Red Sox appear to be finally spending money in free agency.

According to multiple reports (initially via MLB Network’s Jon Heyman and USA Today’s Bob Nightengale), the Red Sox are signing starting pitcher Ranger Suarez to a five-year contract worth $130 million.

Suarez, 30, went 12-8 with a 3.20 ERA for the Phillies in 2025. He posted nearly identical stats in 2024, a year in which he made his first MLB All-Star team.

The reported move comes on the heels of Boston losing out in free agency in the bid to re-sign infielder Alex Bregman.
