Women’s Golf Second behind Opening 70 from Sear

SORRENTO, Fla. -- The Ball State women’s golf team opened with its best round of the season Sunday to find itself in a tie for second place at Morehead State’s Citrus Challenge.

Led by Kelsey Sear’s career-best 70 (-2), the Cardinals posted a team score of 294 (+6). They are part of a four-way tie for second with Western Kentucky, Elon and Florida Gulf Coast. Jacksonville State (+4) will take a two-shot lead into Monday’s second round at Red Tail Golf Club.

Jacksonville State’s Valentina Giraldo carded the lowest round of the day by five strokes and tops the individual leaderboard after a 65 (-7).
