Who will step up for Ball State at receiver?

MUNCIE — The biggest question facing Ball State's wide receivers this year is getting answered a bit sooner than coaches might have hoped.

Juniors Corey Lacanaria and Jordan Hogue — the likely second and third receiving options next fall — have been sidelined with injuries, highlighting the team's lack of depth in their spots long before the season begins. The thing is, even when completely healthy, this group of receivers faces a tall task in replacing Jordan Williams, who is now working out for NFL teams.

The 6-foot-3 senior accounted for 35 percent of the Cardinals' receiving yards last season and 47 percent of their touchdowns.
