MUNCIE — Instead of putting on football cleats, Jamel Barnes is lacing up basketball shoes.
Monday was the first official day for IHSAA boys basketball practice. Central was already hard at work with fundamental drills and workouts to get its players ready for the regular-season grind.
Barnes, a football and basketball player, worked on his mid-range jumper while teammates ran drills on another court, directed by head coach Jeff Holloway.
After taking 10 shots, Barnes' arm was sore. He'll work to get back in basketball shape by Central's first game against Hamilton Southeastern on Nov. 22 at the Muncie Fieldhouse.
