MUNCIE — Coaches called for their best defenders to get on the floor.
Guys started subbing themselves into Ball State's practice lineup, hoping to help stop the scout team. It was a tall task Friday evening because Tayler Persons, who is sitting this year out as a transfer from Northern Kentucky, was hot. He hit 3-pointer after 3-pointer and yelled into the mostly empty Worthen Arena like it was game day.
Ball State's defense, which had worked in several combinations of five, couldn't stop him or Tahjai Teague or Bik Gill. One coach called it a circus as he walked down the sideline.
