MUNCIE, Ind. — This will surely be Ball State's toughest opponent of an ongoing six-game homestand.

IUPUI (2-5) lost this in-state matchup last season, but it was a close 63-60. And this time around, as the teams tip off at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Jaguars have two big-time transfers — Kellon Thomas from Kent State and Ron Patterson from Syracuse — to help pad the roster.

"Kent State really misses (Thomas)," head coach James Whitford said. "He's a veteran; he's a fifth-year senior. Those guys are really valuable. To add in to what they already had, that allows Combs to be a scorer, which is what he really is.
