Corthen lets his game do the talking

MUNCIE — Coming off a junior season in which he averaged 17.1 points per game, Central’s Phillip Corthen wanted more — as every star player would going into his senior season, especially one who hadn’t entered high school as the best at his position.

But before the summer season started, Central coach Jeff Holloway talked with Corthen about his role. Holloway wanted less, not more.

Corthen’s scoring dipped to 15.8 points per game this season, but the Bearcats’ win total rose from 11 to 15, and that was in large part to the senior guard embracing his role as a facilitator.
