MUNCIE, Ind. – If you’ve ever watched a typical collegiate football team practice, most are scripted in a very similar fashion featuring individual drills, team segments and special teams walkthroughs. However, Ball State head coach Mike Neu added a new wrinkle that was popular during his time with the New Orleans Saints – a competition period.
Ball State’s version is a slight variation of what was implemented with the Saints, but both serve the same purpose. Towards the end of every practice, coach Neu will bring the team together and announce a competition pitting the offense against the defense.
