DALEVILLE — With just over 48 hours until Daleville baseball's first pitch of regional play, the predominant sound as Thursday morning practice opened is not the crack of the bat, nor the snap of the glove catching the ball.

It is hair clippers, gliding over Corbin Maddox's head.

Wally Winans, an assistant coach, quickly slides the clippers over Maddox's head. He tries to do his best to keep everyone on the team looking good. Some of the players prefer to have their hair long, much to his dismay.

The players surround Winans and chat before practice starts, joking with Maddox and each other about the haircuts.
