Can the Pac-12 end its Final Four drought?

“Sean Miller should be fired!”

It’s Mike Montgomery on the phone, and when asked about the Pac-12’s Final Four drought, this is how the former Stanford and California basketball coach starts the conversation.

He’s kidding, of course. Miller, approaching his eighth season as coach at Arizona, has done a fabulous job, taking the Wildcats to six consecutive NCAA Tournaments, a run that includes three trips to the Elite Eight.

But no Final Four.

The same can be said of UCLA and Oregon, Washington and Stanford. As the college basketball season begins – a journey that ends with net-cutting at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale – the Pac-12’s Final Four-less streak has reached eight years.
